“Sketch” – a woven jacquard artwork inspired by M. K. Čiurlionis’ cover ornament design Tulips, created for Sofija Čiurlionienė’s book In Lithuania, 1909.
The fabric reveals a freehand drawing motif derived from traditional Lithuanian wooden folk carvings, specifically the tulip motif. This element is rhythmically combined into a drawn-like textile composition, forming a new decorative pattern. The free and sketch-like style lends the piece a sense of aesthetics and boldness.
