PAVEIKSLAS "TULPELĖS"

The artwork “Little Tulips”, created based on M.K. Čiurlionis’ vignette for the Lithuanian folk song "Sutems tamsi naktužėlė II", 1909.

This textile is a unique interpretation of Lithuanian folk ornamentation. The background design is inspired by traditional Lithuanian woven bedspread patterns—specifically, the geometric squares of diminės covers. The upper ornament features motifs taken from carved wooden roadside shrines (koplytstulpiai)—specifically, the tulip motif. The layered surface of the textile pattern reveals a sense of richness and decoration.

Woven as a jacquard tapestry, framed with a passe-partout.
Textile dimensions: 35 x 23 cm
Total size with frame: 47 x 36 cm
